Our Journey – A Story of Growth and Excellence
What began as a modest family-owned business in October 1998 in Rotterdam has evolved into a leading player in the distribution of Asian food products. Our journey is marked by continuous expansion, strategic partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
The Beginning (1998-2001)
In October 1998, the business was established in Rotterdam under the name KRG VOF, starting as a small family-owned operation with a modest retail space of just 40 m². During this initial phase (1998–2001), the company primarily focused on the import and trade of ginger and rice, catering to the growing demand for authentic Asian food products.
Rapid market acceptance led to the first expansion in 1999, when operations moved to a larger 90 m² unit. By 2001, continued growth required further expansion, and the existing space was renovated and extended to 290 m², including an additional floor. This period marked a significant broadening of the product range and laid the foundation for future growth.
In 2002, the company officially transitioned from KRG VOF to KRG Asian Food, reflecting its evolving vision and scale. From this point onward, KRG Asian Food formally introduced and began trading, setting the stage for the brand’s long-term success and recognition in the Asian food industry.
Continued Expansion (2005-2010)
Our growth trajectory continued with the acquisition of an additional 400 m² unit in the same street in 2005. This was also the year we registered our own brand, KRG, marking a significant milestone in our journey. In 2006, we added a 150 m² storage unit to meet increasing demands, followed by another 200 m² unit in 2010.
Consolidation and Modernization (2017)
In 2017, we took a major step forward by consolidating all operations under one roof. We acquired a state-of-the-art company premises of approximately 3,000 m² (later expanded to 4,000 square meters) at Sevillaweg 90, Rotterdam. This modern facility has enabled us to streamline operations and serve our customers more efficiently.
